Meghasandhesham....A beautiful Love Story..

I just want to share my thoughts on this meaningful movie.....I know that am not in a stage to write about great actors like ANR, Jayasudha, Jayapradha, Jaggaiah and analyze the working skills of the Director Daasari Narayan Rao.

Then why am I writing this??!!
I want to make my friends know about this movie,..its greatness in every aspect.

The film was exhibited in Indian Panorama and was also shown at Cannes Film Festival and Moscow's International film festival. It Won 5 National Awards,..Best regional movie,best playback singers{Susheela and Yesudas},best music and also the Silver Lotus Award.

Many of them were dissapointed as actress Jayasudha didn't bag the national award as best actress...Shabana Azmi, for her performance in the film Arth got the best actress award that year.

Story Line:-A Respectable man in a village Ravindrababu,a poet,{played by ANR}, who is married to Parvathi{Jayasudha}, falls in love with Padma{Jayapradha}, who is a dancer{belong to Devadasi family}!!! Ravindra leaves his wife and daughter and stays with padma forever,as he feels she is her soulmate and inspiration for his art.

Weird storyline right??!!!
But,the Director shows the love between the two Protagonists as the love between two art-forms.

I have first seen this movie when I was in class 5th,.i didn't even understand a single scene in the movie, but, I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful songs{i didn't understand the lyrics though}.
Later on,I started loving the movie.

I cant write the complete plot and it will be a foolish attempt to write about the plot which has so much life. Movie starts with the song.."Mundhu thelisena prabhu" pictured on ANR, Jayapradha, staying far away, in a lonely place.

Flashback episode starts in the next scene...Parvathi,{Jayasudha},is a typical village women who performs pooja`s and fastings for the health and wealth of her husband{ Ravindra, ANR}. Ravindra, gets attracted to Dancer padma{Jayapradha} rather, should I write, gets attracted to her dance n art.
Poet in himself gets inspired by her and he starts writing excellent poems...villagers misunderstand their relation and Jaggaiah, brother of parvathi{Jayasudha}, warns and forces padma to get away from Ravindra and save his prestige in the village.
Padma goes far away as she feels that Ravindra shouldn't be degraded because of her.

Ravindra couldn't take this situation and writes many poems about his lover, these poems will be published as a book "MEGASANDHESHAM".
Meanwhile Parvathi understands their love and purposely, refuses to stay with Ravindra{to free him from her relation}. Ravindra goes in search of Padma and at last he finds her. They stay together....this forms the flashback episode!

JAGGAIAH,brother-in-law of ANR,comes to their place n informs him abt his daughters marriage....and invites him to come and participate in the occation..ANR refuses initially,but,agrees later.....Ravindra,Parvathi meet after a long gap,..and they perform "kanyadhaanam",......

Death of Ravindra after the marrige and also the death of Padma..forms the climax of the movie,....No words to explain this climax scene,better watch it......

The scenes in the movie end with same song.."Mundhu thelisena prabhu".....

MY FAV:-Although,i love this movie comepletely,..there are few scenes and few aspects which i feel r the best.....each n every character in this film has its own individuality...but,i personally feel that the character of PARVATHI,is unique n she has the real love for her husband..she makes him free of her bond when she realizes tat she{padma} is his inspiration....when ANR is on death bed,he will be on the lap of parvathi,..and he keeps on chanting the name of Padma,..n then he dies...,she refuses to burn him to ashes without the presence of Padma......Jayasudha did complete justice to the character,..n i think i dnt have to write on her acting skills...

There is no background music in the film,..but u can find excellent hummings by s.p.shailaja,as the background music...which add that classic flavour to the film....

There r wonderful dialogues n excellent screeplay.....a scene between jayasudha n jayapradha follows like...

Parvathi:-"me vallane ayanaki aa gouravam,aa chappatlu,..meeru ravali,ayana thone undali..."..

Padma:-"nenu venakala untene aayanki aa chappatlu,...mundhuki vasthe,avi undavu.."

n when jaggaiah invites ANR to his own daughters marriage,...ANR refuses.....then he says...

"Ammayi{parvathi},.me kosam,meeru vastharani veyi kallatho eduru chusthuntundhi,..."..ANR replies..."thelsu,aa veyi kannullo,veyi prashnalu untayani thelsu,..aa prashanalaki na daggara badhulu ledhani thelsu",....

So many of these excellent scenes forms the complete film and makes it a feel good movie.....I just love the dialogues of ANR with JAYASUDHA in the climax,....

There r no villains in the movie,.there is no negative character in this film,there is not even a single scene damaging any character n characterization........

Film completely runs on feelings,situations,...and ART...

For me,Ramesh Naidu,P.susheela,yesudas,s.p.shailaja are also the actors n actresses in this film,...without their contribution to the film,..it would not have been a musical entertainer..

Last but not least,..This review,article{i dnt know wat to call},..will be incomplete without mentioning one name......"Devulapalli Krishnasastry",...for his excellent lyrics...n i dnt dare to write abt him anymore!!!!

ONLY DISSAPOINTMENT{FOR ME ATLEAST}IS THAT,THIS FILM DOESNT HAVE ANY SONG SANG BY SPB GARU....:(
